87/88 KC PACE Team History
1996-97 (U-9)
- The 87/88 KC PACE started in 1996 playing as an U-9 indoor team and a
tournament outdoor team.
- The team practiced full-time in the winter and part-time in the
spring.
- finished 2nd at the KC Soccerdome U-10 division after losing the
championship game in overtime
- The team took its first out-of-town trip when the team travelled to
Des Moines, Iowa for a 3 vs. 3 tournament.
1997-98 (U-10)
- In the summer of '97 the team became a full-time year-round soccer
team.
- The pre-fall Western Missouri Soccer League 3 vs. 3 shootout was next
on the schedule. All 3 KC PACE teams finished the tournament first in
their respective groups. The 2 separate but equal groups ended with a KC
PACE team champion in one group, and the other 2 KC PACE teams tying for
first in the other group.
- As a member of the Southern Platte County Athletic Association
(SPCAA), the 87/88 KC PACE began their first outdoor season (Fall of '97)
in the Western Missouri Soccer League finishing undefeated and winning
the U-10 A division championship.
- The 87/88 KC PACE had the pleasure of playing at halftime in front of
nearly 10,000 fans at Arrowhead Stadium during a Kansas City Wizards home
night-game vs. the New York/New Jersey Metrostars.
- In the winter of '97-98, the 87/88 KC PACE team played indoor at the
KC Soccerdome. The team was champions of both winter sessions at the
Soccerdome going undefeated throughout the 16 game schedule.
- The Spring of '98 saw the 87/88 KC PACE team back in the WMSL U-10A
division. The team saw equal success as their previous outdoor season
finishing the season undefeated and champions again.
- At the end of May the team travelled to St. Louis, Missouri for the
Busch Soccer Club Memorial Day Cup. The team finished the tournament 3rd
in their group.
1998-99 (U-11)
- In the summer of '98, the KC PACE 87/88 participated in the 1st
annual Kansas City Skills Camp.
- The pre-fall WMSL 3 vs. 3 shootout again found its way on the schedule
as all 3 KC PACE 87/88 teams duplicated their '97 performances by going
undefeated versus all teams and finishing champions in one group while
the other 2 teams finished co-champions in the other group.
- The fall WMSL season saw the 87/88 KC PACE finish undefeated and
champions of the WMSL for the 3rd consecutive outdoor season.
- Representing Missouri's Western District, the 87/88 KC PACE lost in
the state semi-finals to the eventual state champion Busch Soccer Club
(St. Louis).
- In the winter, the 87/88 KC PACE played "up" in age (U-12) for both
winter sessions at the KC Soccerdome. The team finished 3rd place in both
sessions.
- In the Spring of '99, the 87/88 KC PACE again finished the WMSL as
champions. The team's sixth consecutive WMSL affiliated championship.
- The team's first out-of-town trip in '99 was at the Tulsa Cup. KC PACE
finished 1st in their group before losing in the championship to F.C.
Lynx (Dallas, Texas).
- The team's second out-of-town trip in '99 was at the J.B. Marine/Scott
Gallagher-St. Louis Cup. Once again the team finished 1st in their group
before losing in the championship to Scott Gallagher (St. Louis, MO).
1999-2000 (U-12)
- In the summer of '99, the KC PACE again began their new season at the
Kansas City Skills Camp.
